I'd guess a school girl creation dating to the early 20th century or so

looking quite architectural stood on end

but I am not sure whether also relating to mail

but it was made to function as a doorstop I believe

Sloan, Maine that I've found (all, like this one, found in Maine), but I haven't been able to find much of anything about him, and don't have a first name. Clearly he loved his birds though, and I might guess that living in Maine he had a particular affection for the bluebird, which he painted the best deep blue. 1980s or so I would guess and very sweet. 5 11 16" beak to tail; 3 1 8" t. Very good condition.
